BingeOrCringe - Movie info & ratings webapp

Jan 31, 2026BingeOrCringe, WebApp, Projects, Vue

BingeOrCringe.com is a web application built to solve one central problem: the lack of clarity when choosing a movie or TV series. Instead of endlessly switching between streaming services, review platforms, and trailers, BingeOrCringe brings everything together in one clear and accessible interface.

The application allows users to look up movies and series and instantly see what a title is about, how it is rated, where it can be streamed in their country, and whether it is worth watching.

The goal of the project

The idea for BingeOrCringe originated from a familiar frustration: too much content, too little context. With dozens of streaming platforms and countless review websites, making a well-informed choice quickly has become increasingly difficult.

BingeOrCringe was built to simplify this process. The goal was to create an objective, clear, and user-friendly system that helps answer one simple question: am I going to watch this, or not?

One overview for movies and series

For every movie or TV series, BingeOrCringe displays:

  • A short descriptive summary
  • The official trailer
  • Available streaming and viewing options per country
  • Recent and relevant ratings

Everything is combined into a single overview, so users don’t have to jump between multiple websites or apps. This makes the platform suitable both for quick decisions and for exploring new titles in more depth.

Smart suggestions for decision fatigue

One of the key features of BingeOrCringe is its recommendation system. When users lack inspiration, they can automatically receive suggestions for new movies or series.

These suggestions are not random. Users can apply filters based on criteria such as genre, rating, content type, or popularity. As a result, only titles that genuinely match their preferences are shown. This makes the platform not just informative, but actively supportive in the decision-making process.

The Binge Score

What truly sets BingeOrCringe apart is how ratings are presented. Instead of relying on a single platform, the application combines scores from three major and influential sources of film criticism:

  • IMDb
  • Rotten Tomatoes
  • Metacritic

These ratings are merged into a single combined score: the Binge Score.

The Binge Score provides a more balanced and objective view than individual ratings alone. Where platforms can differ significantly from one another, this combined score offers immediate insight into how a title is received on average by both critics and audiences.

Faster decisions, better choices

By bringing all relevant information together and translating it into a clear score, BingeOrCringe helps users make faster and more confident decisions. Instead of comparing endlessly or hesitating, users can immediately see whether a movie or series is worth watching—or not.

This makes BingeOrCringe particularly suitable for spontaneous viewing moments, as well as for users who consciously curate how they spend their viewing time.

Technical and conceptual scope

BingeOrCringe was developed as a modern web application with a strong focus on user experience, data consolidation, and scalability. The project combines external data sources, filtering logic, and score normalization into one cohesive system.

The platform demonstrates how data from multiple sources can be transformed into a clear and usable product, without overwhelming users with disconnected numbers or opinions.

Conclusion

BingeOrCringe.com is more than a search tool for movies and TV series. It is a decision-making aid that combines context, quality, and availability into a single platform. Through smart recommendations and the unique Binge Score, it helps users make more deliberate choices—and spend less time endlessly scrolling.

The project reflects my focus on solving everyday problems through clear interfaces, intelligent data integration, and a strong user-centered approach.
